We had our best turn out yet at our Havana Nights Salsa Party this month. The crowd was a huge, but there was still plenty of room to do all our tricks comfortably. We played some new music by Mayimbe and Prince Royce that people really loved. It's such a great thing to be able to share our love for salsa and bachata with our friends. We can't wait to do it all again next month.

Ibiza nightclub has been our regular Thursday night salsa spot for over 8 years now, so the salsa community was crushed to see our Thursday night salsa get cancelled. Luckily, long time Ibiza instructors Martin and Raven plan on filling our Thursday night void with their very own salsa social at Casa Azafran on Nolensville Pike.
Casa Azafran is truly a beautiful studio space with great hardwood floors that let you turn and spin with ease. We've already had great times there before at salsa socials put on by Sentir el Ritmo, and I can't wait to make this studio our new regular salsa spot from now on.
This Thursday Martin and Raven will be leading a beginner/intermediate salsa lesson from 8-8:30pm and open dancing will go from 8:30p-12am spun by DJ George . It just $5 to dance all night long, so be sure not to miss it! This social will happen weekly starting Thursday May 2nd.

Every Wednesday night a Play Dancebar, the salseros take over and bring a fun mix of dances to this internationally known gay bar. The event is organized by one of Nashville's most passionate dance advocates, Tonya Miller. She has a passion for bringing together several different types of dance communities in one place to have a great time. Every Wednesday at 7:15pm, she rotates between dances such as salsa, bachata, west coast swings, tango, rumba, kizomba, and more. Open dancing starts at 8:30pm and usually goes until 10:45pm. It's a lot of fun and completely FREE. So please come out to join us this week!

Mad Donna's was packed last night, making a cold winter day seem more like summer in the upstairs loft of this east Nashville restaurant. The night started strong with a packed lesson at 9:30pm, and the dancing didn't let up until 2am. There were a lot of new faces, and out of towners. I danced with one girl from Canada who was craving some Cuban style salsa dancing, and I was happy to oblige. Also, I learned a new line dance. No idea what it was called, but I was feeling it. Anyway, can't wait for another 4th Saturday to do it all over again. Thanks Pablo for another great night!

Our love for Cuban salsa and timba has inspired us to throw our first Havana Nights party this Friday night, March 23rd. We will play a good mix of the classics like El Gran Combo, Oscar D’Leon, Eddie Santiago, and Spanish Harlem Orchestra. However, we plan to also add in some tracks that Nashville has never heard before from Los Van Van, Maykel Blanco, Charanga Habanera, Michel Maza, Havana NRG, Timbalive, and Pupy y los que Son Son. This music has a different vibe to it. It’s joyous and funky at the same time challenging you to get down, wind your waist, and to shake parts of your body that you didn’t even know that you had.
We will start the night with a salsa rueda lesson from 9pm-10pm which is a great way to get introduced to the internationally known turn patterns that we call in a rueda. Open dancing goes from 10pm-1am, and we will be calling ruedas all throughout the night, so be sure to take the lesson and jump in a circle. It is so much fun and can completely revamped you love for salsa. Something about being in sync with a whole circle of friends and booty bumping at the same time really takes you to a whole another level of fun. The party is at Urban Dance Studios at 604 Gallatin Ave, Suite 209, and it just $5 if you RSVP to this post or $7 at the door. Hope to see you on the dance floor.
